Since Jan. 1, around 17 Palestinians have been killed and dozens were injured by Israeli soldiers.

In the early hours of Thursday, the Israeli occupation forces killed two Palestinians during a raid in a refugee camp in the city of Jenin.

One of the victims was identified as Jawad Bawaqna, a 57-year-old school teacher, who died as a result of a bullet in his chest, as reported by the Palestinian Health Ministry.

The other Palestinian killed was Adham Jabarin, a 27-year-old youth who died from a shot to the upper abdomen.

"The Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigade – an armed group affiliated with Fatah, the secular political party that controls the Palestinian Authority – claimed Jabarin as a fighter," according to the Daily Sabath outlet.

"Bawaqna was shot and killed as he was trying to offer Jabarin medical aid after he had been shot outside his home from him. The Israeli military said it had no immediate comment," it added.

Previously, an Israeli army force, backed by a bulldozer, stormed the refugee camp to remove booby-trapped barriers placed by militants at the entrances to the refugee camp.

The soldiers stormed several houses and arrested several Palestinians. Clashes broke out between the soldiers and the militants in the streets of the refugee camp.

Since early January, tensions between Israel and the Palestinians have been flaring. Around 17 Palestinians have been killed, and dozens were injured by Israeli soldiers so far this year.
