This is the first Ipespe poll conducted after the first round of elections in Brazil, in which Lula achieved victory with 48.4 percent of the total valid votes, leaving Bolsonaro behind with 43.2 percent.

In the stimulated research, in which respondents are presented with the names of the candidates, the leftist Lula has 54 percent. In comparison, the far-right Bolsonaro has 46 percent considering only valid votes (excluding blank, null, or abstentions).
Considering the total votes, the spontaneous poll showed 47 percent of voting intentions for the leader of the Workers' Party (PT) and 42 percent for the Liberal Party (PL) candidate.
One thousand one hundred persons were interviewed by telephone for this survey between October 8 and 10. The margin of error is plus or minus three percentage points.
The second round of the Brazilian elections will be held on October 30. Lula has said that this time he expects to achieve victory with a larger margin, considering the recent support gathered.
Senator Simone Tebet from the Brazilian Democratic Movement (MDB), Ciro Gomes from the Democratic Labor Party (PDT), and also former Brazilian president (1994-2002) Henrique Cardoso have expressed their support for Lula.
