The U.S. and its allies aggression against the Arab country has increased in recent months

Syria's only possible alternative to deal with increasing external threats is to withstand, the Political and Media adviser to Bashar al-Assad's administration Dr. Bouzeina Shabaan stated on Friday.

According to Shabaan, Syria stands as a key element for the Axis of resistance, an alliance integrated also by Iran, Lebanon's Hezbollah, Iraq's Shiite militias, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, along with the Hutus in Yemen.

Amidst COVID-19 pandemic, U.S and allies have boosted offensive actions on Syrian territory, with Israel as a spearhead. Tel Aviv frequently launches attacks on Syrian territory under the pretext of attacking Hezbollah targets.

Referring to the blockade imposed by the U.S. Departments of State and Treasury, the officer said that Syria won't kneel before its tightening, but it will continue to defend its independent decision to oppose the occupation, terrorism, and oppression, not only in the region but also in the world.

"We are not afraid of the blockade, and we will face their sanctions with patience and firmness," Shabaan said. She also stated that the U.S and its allies' intentions towards Syria are unmasked amongst public opinion. Since the late '70s, Washington accused the Damascus government of supporting terrorism and used this as a scapegoat for military aggressions.

On Thursday, Syrian air defenses intercepted an Israeli missile fired as part of an attack against a Scientific Research Facility. Over the past few weeks Tel Aviv, one of the strongest White House allies, has been targeting and attacking several points of the Syrian geography.
