Haitians have organized a growing number of protests amid an increase in gang-related kidnappings and killings, a spike in the prices of basic goods and a severe lack of fuel amid an inflation rate reaching 30%.

Thousands of people in Haiti´s capital and other major cities organized new protests on Wednesday to demand safer streets, more affordable goods and the resignation of Prime Minister Ariel Henry.

In Port-au-Prince, demonstrators went through Delmas and Petion Ville but could not reach Ariel Henry´s residence, who traveled on Wednesday to Florida to meet with U.S. businessmen.

“The situation is getting worse and worse, Henry has to go. Life is too expensive and it’s his fault,” one of protesters told a reporter from Cuban news agency Prensa Latina, while barricading off the streets with rocks, trucks and burning tires.

While the police fired tear gas to disburse the crowd, some citizens tossed stones and shouted: Go, Ariel!

Several unions, social and political platforms announced the protests will continue in coming days and called for urgent actions by the Government in view of the persistent generalized crisis.
