Official data indicate that the death toll from Israeli attacks on Gaza amounted to more than 1,000, while at least 5,300 Palestinians have been injured.

According to a statement from the Egyptian foreign ministry, during a phone call, the two diplomats discussed the Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip and the threats posed by the ongoing confrontations to regional stability.

Shoukry expressed Egypt's deep concern due to the continuation and intensity of the military confrontations and briefed his Iranian counterpart on the efforts made by Egypt to reduce the escalation and deliver humanitarian aid through the Rafah crossing despite the Israeli bombing of the Palestinian side of the crossing.

The tweet reads, "Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry receives calls from Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetrisis and Tunisian Foreign Minister Nabil Ammar. Egypt stresses the need for concerted regional and international efforts to urge the parties to immediately stop the escalation and adopt a path of calm."

Additionally, Shoukry cautioned against any expansion of the ongoing conflict that could jeopardize regional stability and the safety of its inhabitants.

For his part, the Iranian foreign minister expressed his country's appreciation for the efforts made by Egypt, especially in supporting the Palestinian cause and providing humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.

Egypt has been working to stop the ongoing military conflict between Israel and the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), which launched on Saturday a surprise attack on Israeli towns adjacent to the Gaza Strip, prompting Israel to launch retaliatory strikes on Gaza.

Official data indicate that the death toll from Israeli attacks on Gaza amounted to more than 1,000, while at least 5,300 Palestinians have been injured.
