Life in California's Largest Immigration Center

IN PICTURES: More than 1,800 immigrants are held at held at the Adelanto Detention Facility in California.

After taking office in January, U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order on border security that, among other measures, called for promptly deporting undocumented immigrants after their apprehension and keeping them in custody until that can be arranged.

This has led to a spike in immigrant detentions across the country. In California, for example, there are at least 1,800 immigrants detained at the Adelanto Detention Facility. Here, in the state's largest detention center, immigrants may wait up to four years in detention — only to be deported.
