The National Secretariat of Risk Management (SNGR) confirmed, up to 17:00, that after two days of heavy rains, there were two deaths.

One of the most affected areas is the Baños de Agua Santa canton, in the province of Tungurahua. The Ministry of Transportation and Public Works (MTOP) ordered on July 4 the closure of the Baños - Puyo highway, which connects the Sierra with the Amazon, where landslides were reported in different sectors, such as La Pampa and El Placer.

Landslides, floods, and even structural collapses are some of the dangerous events caused by the heavy rains recorded in 13 provinces of Ecuador. Deaths have been reported.

Machinery and personnel of the institution are working in these places to clean the material on the roadway. However, weather conditions make it difficult to clean and enable vehicular circulation.
