Capriles is on a tour to solicit support for opposition efforts to oust Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro via a recall referendum.

He previously visited with right-wing Paraguayan President Horacio Cartes. Capriles is visiting countries headed by U.S.-friendly governments.

After meeting with Argentine president, Capriles held a brief press conference but was interrupted by protesters who called him a coup monger.

Capriles repeated his assertion that he respects the Venezuelan Consitution and is not seeking a coup against Maduro.

"We want there to be a constitutional solution in Venezuela and we ask Argentina, like the rest of our Latin American brothers, that they take a firm position in international bodies so the constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is respected,” said Capriles.

The opposition figure, however, has previously called on the Venezuelan armed forces to act against the president.

Capriles also said “there was no reason why the recall process should take place next year.”

President Maduro recently announced that the potential recall would have to take place in 2017.

Capriles' meeting with Macri came amid the start of meetings of the 46th General Assembly of the Organization of American States, known as OAS.

The head of the OAS, Luis Almagro, has faced a wave of criticism over his open support of opposition efforts to unseat Maduro.
