Trump spoke about how the Orlando shooting justifies keeping Muslims out of the United States.

U.S. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump referred to Orlando shooting suspect Omar Mateen as foreign-born, as Think Progress reported.

During a counterterrorism speech on Monday, Trump said that Mateen was “Afghan,” only later to correct himself by saying Mateen had Afghan parents. However, both Mateen and Trump were born in the same borough of New York City—Queens.

After making the incorrect remark, Trump transitioned to talking about how his proposed ban on Muslim immigration would be a deterrence against similar attacks in the future.

Trump’s “Afghan” comment isn’t his first error of this kind.. While attacking the judge presiding over a Trump University fraud case, Judge Gonzalo Curiel, he’s repeatedly referred to Indiana-born Curiel as “Mexican.”

Later during Monday’s speech, Trump continued promoting his anti-immigrant politics, turning his focus on to the alleged dangers of letting Syrian refugees into the country.
