A contingent of Peru fans has been winning over fans from around the world as they followed their side across Russia.

Peru fans won over Australia fans even as the Blanquirrojas bested the Socceroos 2 - 0 in what turned out to be the last game here in Russia for both teams.

After losing their first two games, Peru were already slated to go home, but the win put them ahead of Australia in group C standings with France and Denmark both advancing to the round of 16.

A massive contingent of Peru fans has been winning over fans from around the world as they followed their side across the country during their Russia 2018 campaign - the country's first in 36 years.

Even after defeat, the Aussie fans couldn't resist the joyful bunch's charms as they sang and chanted throughout the match in a party that spilled into the streets outside Sochi's Fisht Olympic Stadium following the game.

Peru fans were over the moon as they head home on a high note after grabbing their first World Cup win since their 4-1 defeat of Iran at the 1978 finals in Argentina.

France won the group with seven points, with Denmark runners-up on five after the teams played out a dull 0-0 draw in Moscow.
