"We have positive plans for the future in all these areas, as well as in the areas of health, biopharmaceutics, information and communication technologies, the peaceful use of atoms, and the peaceful exploration of space."

Cuba's Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez met with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov on Monday to discuss expanding bilateral ties between the two nations.

Both diplomats agreed to boost their bilateral ties in economics, investment, humanitarianism, and culture, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on Monday.

During their press conference, Lavrov said that several Russian companies are involved in large-scale and long-term projects in Cuba's energy and metal sectors, transportation, infrastructure, supply of automotive and railway equipment, agriculture, and consumer goods industry.

"We have positive plans for the future in all these areas, as well as in the areas of health, biopharmaceutics, information and communication technologies, the peaceful use of atoms, and the peaceful exploration of space," Lavrov said.

In turn, Rodriguez said that the economic, financial, and scientific relations between Cuba and Russia are developing well and should expand in the near future. Rodriguez also spoke of cooperation in tourism, pharmaceutical and biotechnological sectors, as well as in the energy, and transport.

"They have a promising future and are an example of how a big country like Russia develops relations with a small island... for the benefit of our people," he said.
