On February 22, the 88th anniversary of Sadel's birth, 20 Cuban youths will take part in the event due to be held at the House of Culture of the Revolution Square, in Havana.
The cultural advisor of the Venezuelan embassy in Cuba, Rafael Salazar, said Sadel was idolized not just in Venezuela, but also on the international music scene, having broken into Hollywood.
"The figure of Alfredo must be rescued, revived to give him the dimension of what he really was: a great singer, composer and orchestra conductor, and we are honored that Cuba commemorates this important date," Salazar said.
Sadel interpreted classics from the opera world and also sang the works of Latin American composers, especially those who wrote about Latin American identity and values.
