The right-wing politician who orchestrated the parliamentary coup against President Dilma Rousseff, Eduardo Cunha, resigned in tears earlier this month from his post as speaker of the lower house of Congress in Brazil. However, he threw one last bash before losing the luxurious amenities afforded to him by his post in Congress.

After resigning, he lost the privilege of having an 800 square meter mansion built in the exclusive neighborhood of Lago Sul in the capital of Brasilia – complete with lavish perks like a grand garden and private swimming pool.
But Cunha left the house in style, throwing an exclusive barbecue party with dozens dozens of guests who shared with him his last moments in the beautiful residence.
The menu was supplied by Degustare Buffet, an exclusive catering company specializing in social and corporate events, whose average price per plate is US$150, according to internet reviews. On its website, the company says it has provided services for the oil giant Petrobras, several embassies and the National Congress of Brazil, among others.
But the party was marred by the presence of paparazzi – including an O'Globo helicopter – which tried to take pictures of the event. The guests were forced to stay indoors and nobody has yet discovered the identity of the VIPs.
Cunha has recently declared to the local press that it was just a farewell party, giving assurances that he paid for it. He is being investigated for multiple corruption and perjury allegations, and has been suspended from the lower house.

The embattled right-wing politician has been investigated for lying about laundering over US$5 million in secret Swiss bank accounts.
He was suspended from his position as chief of the lower house by the Supreme Court last month over accusations of intimidating lawmakers and hampering investigations. He also faces an 8-year ban from elected office.
