Northeastern Iran was struck by an earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor featured prominently in the southern region of Kerman province, with a depth of 57km.
There have been no immediate reports of casualties or infrastructural damage, Iranian State television says.
On Monday the western region of the country previously experienced a 5.4-magnitude earthquake, near the site of last month's catastrophic 7.3-magnitude tremor – which claimed the lives of almost 600 people.
In 2003, significant 6.6-magnitude quake devastated Bam and resulted in the deaths of about 6,000 people.
Iran sits on major fault lines and is prone to quakes as a result.
