Venezuela's Yulimar Rojas Receives 'Best Athlete' Award

“I accept this award with such pride and responsibility," Rojas said.

The National Association of Olympic Committees has officially named Venezuelan track and field athlete Yulimar Rojas as the best athlete in the Americas at the ANOC awards Prague.

“I accept this award with such pride and responsibility," Rojas said.

"It’s an honor to represent my state, Venezuela, and the Americas. This is for my family, for Venezuela."

Rojas has also been recognized for her superior triple jump ability by being nominated for a Rising Star award by the International Federation of Athletes this year for her performance in the World Championships of London.

On hand at the event supporting the athlete was president of the Venezuelan Olympic Committee, Eduardo Alvarez and secretary general to the institution, Elida Parraga.

Rojas is 22 years old.
