The Russian head of state expressed that China is taking “decisive and vigorous” measures in order to fight the epidemic.
Russian President Vladimir Putin praised Wednesday China's actions to fight the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) during the ceremony of credentials presentations by ambassadors of 23 countries, the Chinese representative among them.
Putin highlighted that Chinese authorities are taking “decisive and vigorous” measures in order to stop the epidemic, adding that "China and all of us are confronted with the peril of the spreading of the coronavirus infection," insisting that Russia stands ready to provide the Asian nation with all kinds of assistance.
The Russian head of state also said that bilateral relations are at an unprecedentedly high level.
According to the Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov, Putin receives "daily and, if necessary every hour reports on the development of the situation" in regard to the spread of the coronavirus.
Russia has evacuated 144 people from Wuhan, the Chinese city where the infectious outbreak began. The Russian nationals were transported in two planes of the Ministry of Defense and later on, moved to a provisional medical center on the outskirts of the Siberian city of Tyumen, where they will remain in quarantine for two weeks.
There have only been reported two infected patients with the 2019-nCoV in Russia so far, both Chinese with no risk for their lives. As of Wednesday, there are 24,560 confirmed cases worldwide and 493 deaths.
