"I thank the heads of Government of #CARICOM for their condemnation of the tightening of the #US blockade against #Cuba and against the enforcement of the Helms-Burton Act," Rodriguez wrote on his Twitter account on Wednesday night.

He also acknowledged the regional bloc's gratitude for Cuba's medical cooperation that has for years contributed to their peoples' wellbeing.

At the conclusion of the CARICOM meeting in Barbados, the Caribbean leaders repeated their concern over the sanctions announced by the U.S. Government regarding the enforcement of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act, which tightens the economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba.

Regarding Cuba's international medical cooperation, they condemned the smear campaign launched by the United States against it.
