Gunmen ambushed a minibus in South Africa, killing 11 and seriously injuring 4 taxi drivers. The attack took place as the drivers were returning to Johannesburg from a colleague's funeral in the Kwa-Zulu Natal.

The drivers, all members of the Gauteng taxi association, were in a minibus when they were pounced upon by still unidentified armed attackers.
“There was a shooting at about 8:00 p.m. last night (Saturday). The vehicle was ambushed. There were 11 fatalities and four were seriously injured and are in hospital,” Kwa-Zulu Natal spokesman Jay Naicker said.
“We understand they were from the Gauteng taxi association. There has been a lot of taxi violence in the area but we are still investigating who the perpetrators were,” Naicker said.
Violent exchanges often take place between rival companies that look to dominate profitable routes, in South Africa, where minibus taxis are a very popular form of transportation.
