"Terrorist speculation, we insist, is not an economic phenomenon, it is part of a plan propelled by imperialism, but orchestrated by the oligarchy, where large capitalists are financing a crime operation against our people, against the Venezuelan family," said Blanca Eekhout, the Minister of the People’s Power for Women and Gender Equality, during a press conference Tuesday.

In celebration of Feminist Socialism Day, thousands of women belonging to different organizations will march from the attorney general's office to the seat of the National Constituent Assembly, where they aim to deliver a document to the ANC, in which they urge the speed up of "the approval of the agenda that protects women against gender violence and the people on economic matters," said Anahi Arizmendi, member of Unamujer.

They will urge the ANC to debate and create a socioeconomic model from a feminist perspective based on peace, equality, tolerance and social justice.

The protesters reject the policy promoted by the Venezuelan right, who "hide drugs, deny food only for destabilizing purposes," said a member of the Francisco Miranda Front.

Eekhout also stated the importance of prosecuting those behind these crimes, calling on the ANC to act, adding that she believed women are playing a significant role in the battle against oppression and went on to express her organization’s support for President Nicolas Maduro to defeat the "economic war."
