Venezuela's ambassador to the OAS: Trump and OAS leader Luis Almagro violate institutional charter, member sovereignty, and want to 'loot' his nation.

Venezuelan ambassador to the United Nations and alternative representative to the Organization of American States (OAS), Samuel Moncada, says that his nation will leave the OAS April 27 in defiance of the "racist ‘Monroe Doctrine’" and United States President Donald Trump’s continued attempts to "run over the countries of the continent" with the help of OAS leadership.

In a series of tweets late Tuesday night, Moncada announced: “Venezuela will leave the OAS on April 27, 2019 because the racist "Monroe Doctrine," followed by Trump to run over the countries of the continent, will never defeat the ideas of our liberators."

The diplomat added that Venezuela “will always be an independent, free and sovereign nation!"

Responding to a March 27 statement by OAS General Secretariat Luis Almagro, Moncada said that the U.S.'s "path to war … for 'humanitarian reasons' … has already begun with Almagro's support who lies to the entire world about what has never been decided."

Last Wednesday the OAS director released a statement calling the self-proclaimed interim president of Venezuela, Juan Guiado, the country's "legitimate President." Almagro says this is so based on a Jan. 10 OAS member vote "to not recognize the legitimacy of Nicolas Maduro’s new term."

The resolution passed 19-6 with eight abstentions and one absence.

“The Permanent Council has no authority to recognize governments; the decision is a null propaganda act... It has never had that power and even less so has it tried to impose it with 18 votes or simple majority,” responded Moncada in a tweet in reference to the OAS pronouncements.

The Venezuelan ambassador says that “Almagro’s scam is augmented by the Trump administration, for the latter is manufacturing a ... coup.”

Moncada stated: “Trump wants to act as the foreman of OAS members, ... knock(ing) down the OAS Charter to promote a coup in Venezuela... Trump will violate the entire OAS Charter with the purpose of fabricating the fiction of a 'consented invasion' of Venezuela because his local agent (Guiado) will fulfill the ignoble task of demanding war against the Venezuelan people," added the Venezuelan OAS expert.

On Monday, U.S. representative to the OAS, Carlos Trujillo said the Trump administration "will do everything in its power" to give Guiado a seat at OAS Permanent Council table.

"Neither Trump nor anyone else has the authority to replace the Venezuelan representatives to the OAS. Such power does not exist. What does exist is the protection of the sovereign rights of States, as typified in the Charter," said the Venezuelan OAS representative.

The South American diplomat said Trump's coup violates the Viena convention and is "promoting international chaos (that) would allow him to loot our nation."
