Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez offered details of the attack perpetrated by armed paramilitary groups in the state of Amazonas Sunday and said that it is a consequence of the internal war in Colombia.
"It is the product of Colombia's internal war, which the (Colombian) State has not had the capacity to resolve in more than 60 years," the defense minister also said.
He added that Venezuelan security authorities have not been able to establish communication with their Colombian counterparts. "They have refused to talk about these things that are common", complained Padrino Lopez.
He said that Luis Felipe Ortega Bernal, a Colombian national, was arrested for the attack in Amazonas, along with eight other people.
He said that there are Colombian forces interested in producing a false positive on the border with Venezuela "for the escalation of the conflict."
Padrino López sent his condolences to the relatives of the three soldiers killed in the attack and wished a quick recovery for 10 Venezuelan soldiers who were wounded.
He also highlighted the work of the Venezuelan military who watch over the sovereignty, integrity and protection of Venezuelan territory.
