The crisis comes after the candidate for the Madrid Comunity and co-founder of Podemos, Iñigo Errejon, decided to run with the platform of Carmena, More Madrid, in a regional level.

The Secretary-General of the Spanish left-wing party Podemos, Pablo Iglesias, accepted on Thursday for the first time, that Podemos might not run for the Madrid Municipality if the Mayor of the city Manuela Carmena decides to select all the members of the list.

The crisis comes after the candidate for the Madrid Comunity and co-founder of Podemos, Iñigo Errejon, decided to run with the platform of Carmena, More Madrid, at a local level.

"If the demands by Manuela to decide her list from first to the last name are a condition to stop the possibility for the corrupt and reactionary to return to govern Madrid, we are willing to stand aside and not present ourselves to the municipal elections in Madrid," wrote Iglesias on his letter to the militants of Podemos.

On the other side of the argument, Íñigo Errejón does not consider "at all" that his decision to participate in the regional elections for Madrid with More Madrid, places him "outside of Podemos", and right now he continues to see himself as a candidate of Podemos for the presidency of the Community of Madrid.

According to Pablo Iglesias, there is something "much more important than Manuela or us: that the people of Madrid get a more decent government than the previous ones." Which is why Podemos might accept not running in these elections, but says that "Maybe those who supported and accompanied her then (Podemos) deserve another consideration."

"I am the candidate of Podemos," Errejón said in an interview with Cadena SER a few hours after the party leader, Pablo Iglesias, criticized the "maneuver" by Errejón in a message broadcast to the participants of the political party to warn that Podemos will compete and "will win" in the elections in Madrid.
