Young Weah dominated in his first full international debut and seal the emphatic victory by netting the final goal in Monday's friendly fixture. The 18-year-old, who was born in New York, struck in the 59th minute of the game which was held at Philadelphia's Talen Energy Stadium.

The Paris St-Germain player, who represented the United States in the Under-17 World Cup, has suited up in three league games for the club following a March debut.

Weah got his first club start in the final match of the season.

The elder Weah was a forceful figure for AC Milan and Liberia. The Liberian head of state also played for Manchester City and Chelsea. The Liberian – nicknamed 'King George' – is a former World Fifa Player of the Year and remains the only African to win the coveted Ballon d'Or.

The junior Weah, on scoring the sinker, became the fourth-youngest U.S. national to score an international goal.

Despite losing out on a spot in the upcoming FIFA World Cup, the United States national team managed to use a youth-filled outfit to break the South Americans in the friendly.

New Coach Dave Sarachan replaced Bruce Arena, in October, after the team failed to qualify for the Cup.
