Democratic presidential candidate Sanders concedes tight Missouri primary to Clinton

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders has announced that he will not request a recount of results from Missouri’s Democratic primary, and has conceded defeat to his rival Hillary Clinton.

Sanders told AP that he did not believe that the result would affect the number of delegates he would win in that state, and he would "prefer to save the taxpayers of Missouri some money."

Clinton is winning the state by a slim margin of 1,531 votes, or less than one-half of 1 percent, which under state law meant that Sanders could have requested a recount.

This means that the former secretary of state will win two extra delegates from Missouri.

Sanders did not win any of Tuesday’s primary competitions, but has 825 delegates and 26 superdelegates.

Clinton is in the lead with 1,138 delegates, and 467 superdelegates.
