U.S. President sends warnings to "illegal caravan" approaching his country.

President Donald Trump announced Thursday a new comprehensive immigration policy which includes a plan to deny asylum to people who enter the country illegally.

“Migrants seeking asylum will have to present themselves lawfully at a port of entry,” said Trump, and added that “those who choose to break our laws and enter illegally will no longer be able to use meritless claims to gain automatic admission into our country.”

Although these warnings were released as the migrant caravan keeps on moving towards the U.S.-Mexico border, Trump did not provide details on the new plan.

The current Immigration and Nationality Act says that any immigrant to the United States can apply for asylum, whether or not the immigrant entered the country through a designated port of entry.

Regarding the possible actions U.S.troops may take to defend themselves, President Trump also warned that they may open fire if they are attacked "with a rock" by caravan members.

"Anybody throwing stones, rocks, like they did to Mexico... we will consider that a firearm, because there is not much difference if you get hit in the face with a rock,” Trump said.
