An investigation revealed that Marcos Derpich, the ex-subdirector of the National Center for Information (CNI), one of the people most responsible for the deaths and torture of leftists dissidents during the Pinochet era, enjoys a life of absolute liberty, despite having been sentenced to 25 years in prison.

The Funa Commision and teleSUR tracked down the former intellgence agent in Chile and recorded his movements in which he was shown going about his daily routine.
According to the report, every day for the last 10 years, Marcos Derpich has been going to his favorite cafe to meet with miltary friends while living a free, normal life.
Despite having been sentenced to 20 years in prison by an appellate court in Chile, Dersich remains free. He was convicted with 17 other former member of the CNI for the death of seven leftist Chileans.
Juan Seravia of the FUNA Commission say "Though he should be in prison since he was charged, he is completly free and enjoying his coffee like a free man."
During the investigation by teleSUR, Dersich was filmed in the cafe, but was later approached by a group of protesters who began forming around him showing him picture of victims who died by his or his agents' hands. At first, he put on a show of disinstrest, introducing himself and acting casually, but he eventually became agitated and started threatening the crowd, getting more and more agressive despite his advanced age.
The case will continue on to the Supreme Court of Chile which will have the last word, ruling on the crimes of the person accursed of so much torture and death.
