The peace accords between the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia and the government of Juan Manuel Santos looks set to be approved by the population after yet another poll found massive support among Colombians for the final peace deal struck last month.

The poll by Cifras and Conceptos for Caracol Radio found that 62 percent would vote yes in the upcoming plebiscite, with only 28 percent indicating they would not and a further 10 percent still undecided.
The poll further found that half of the Colombian population intended to vote in the plebiscite, comfortably meeting the minimum threshold established by the Supreme Court.
88 percent also said they were “sure” or “somewhat sure” about their voting intentions. The poll was conducted between August 26 and 31 and the firm conducted 2,305 in person interviews, making it one of the largest samples to date.
Far-right former President Alvaro Uribe has been campaigning for a “No” vote and was recently joined by former Conservative President Andres Pastrana, who took part in a previous failed effort at ending the armed conflict with rebel groups.
However, most political organizations, spanning the political spectrum, back the deal and have called for a "Yes" vote.
President Santos announced Friday that the signing ceremony will be held in the city of Cartagena on September 26.
“Perhaps this is the most important announcement I have ever made in my life, peace will be signed on September 26 in Cartagena,” said Santos at a meeting of business leaders.
Meanwhile, the plebiscite will be held on October 2 and will ask Colombians the following question: “Do you support the final accord for the end of the conflict and the construction of stable and lasting peace?”
The plebiscite is aimed at giving democratic legitimacy to the peace deal between the government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia.
