Mexico: Morena's Emigdio Lopez Avendano Becomes 130th Electoral Candidate Murdered During Campaign

The name of the victim is Emigdio López Avendaño, which brings the number of candidates murdered in Mexico to 130 since September of last year.

Mexico experienced a bloody day with the murder of some 5 people in Oaxaca. Among the deceased is a Morena candidate for local deputy, Emigdio López Avendaño, who was seeking a seat in Congress in the 21st district.

In response to the heinous crime, Moreno's Salomón Jara Cruz posted to Twitter: "While campaigning in San Vicente Coatlan, our candidate for the local deputy for the Department de Ejutla, Emigdio López Avendaño was killed along with 2 other comrades, I am very sorry for this cowardly act, we demand from Mr. Murat (regional governor) immediate punishment to those responsible for this crime."

teleSUR's Eduardo Martinez‏ reported that the Political Violence Indicator of @ etellekt_ numbers showed that, with the murder of the Morena-Oaxaca candidate, there have now been 130 murders of politicians during the Mexico election 2018 campaign period. 

López Avendaño joins an ever-growing list of politicians killed under different circumstances, in Mexico, since September last year.
