Mexico experienced a bloody day with the murder of some 5 people in Oaxaca. Among the deceased is a Morena candidate for local deputy, Emigdio López Avendaño, who was seeking a seat in Congress in the 21st district.

In response to the heinous crime, Moreno's Salomón Jara Cruz posted to Twitter: "While campaigning in San Vicente Coatlan, our candidate for the local deputy for the Department de Ejutla, Emigdio López Avendaño was killed along with 2 other comrades, I am very sorry for this cowardly act, we demand from Mr. Murat (regional governor) immediate punishment to those responsible for this crime."

teleSUR's Eduardo Martinez reported that the Political Violence Indicator of @ etellekt_ numbers showed that, with the murder of the Morena-Oaxaca candidate, there have now been 130 murders of politicians during the Mexico election 2018 campaign period.
