Mexico: Morena Calls For Recount In Puebla Governor Election

The party of Mexico's President-Elect Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, the National Regeneration Movement (Morena), has demanded that votes for the governorship of Puebla be recounted following suspicions of fraud.

The national leader of Morena, Yeidckol Polevnsky, believes Miguel Barbosa of the Together We Will Do History coalition was victorious, but a victory of the National Action Party (PAN)'s Martha Erika Alonso was unfairly imposed.

"Under no circumstance are we going to allow fraud. We will defend the victory of Barbosa until the last consequences. For this, we request the participation of the National Electoral Institute (INE) in a vote-by-vote, box-by-box recount," Polevnsky said.

Polevnsky said there is clear evidence of voter fraud, after an alleged center for electoral document falsification was found on Tuesday.

Morena is alleging that the husband of Erika Alonso, Ex-Governor Rafael Moreno Valle, participated in the orchestration of electoral fraud.
