The latest El Financiero Mexican presidential election poll indicates that Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, popularly known by his initials AMLO, is 32 points ahead of his closest rival. AMLO's lead grew four points compared to the previous El Financiero poll, which was released on June 4.

Jose Antonio Meade, candidate for the “Todos por Mexico” coalition comes in at second place with 22 percent of voting intention, while Ricardo Anaya Cortes, candidate for the “Por Mexico al Frente” coalition, comes in third with 21 percent, according to Sin Embargo.

Independent candidate Jaime Rodriguez Calderon came in at a distant fourth place with just 3 percent of the voting intention.

The latest El Financiero poll surveyed 1,420 voters in the country's 31 federal states and its federal district. It has a margin of error of +/- 2.6 percentage points.

Now a frontrunner in his third presidential race, AMLO, a former Mexico City mayor, has previously come in as runner-up in both the 2006 and 2012 elections. After his most recent defeat, AMLO departed from the left-of-center Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD) to form the National Regeneration Movement (MORENA) in 2012.

AMLO has vowed to root out corruption and violence if elected president. He has also pledged to raise the minimum wage, increase access to higher education and take the military off the streets, a measure which was codified by the current Enrique Peña Nieto administration in 2017.
