Mexican Authorities Find Body of Teen Who Went Missing After Taking Cabify Taxi

Mexican authorities found the body of Mara Fernanda Castilla who went missing after using Cabify taxi service in the city of Puebla, according to state officials.

The body of the 19-year-old student was found near a motel in the state capital of Puebla, after being missing since Sept. 8.

State governor Tony Gali said, on Twitter, the taxi driver was arrested on suspicion of Castilla's murder, following submitted statements that didn't coincide with the investigation.

"All the weight of the law to those responsible for the crime of Mara Castilla, we will rigorously review Cabify's safety standards," Gali said.

Prosecutors, who are confident the taxi driver will be formally charged with the teen's murder, said they believe he killed Castilla after she used his car last week.

Castilla's body was found in Santa María Xonacatepec, a small location 15 km away from Puebla.

In a statement, the company expressed condolences for the woman's death.

"We deeply regret the death of Mara Fernanda. All our team is in solidarity with his family and we accompany them at this moment," Cabify said.

State attorney Víctor Carranca Bourget said that it was a "direct attack" done hours after Castilla had called for a Cabify unit.
