Jennifer Lopez and Broadway director and star Lin-Manuel Miranda have recorded a song to benefit the the victims of the Pulse shooting in Orlando that killed 49 people at a gay nightclub.
The song is titled "Love Make the World Go Round" and download profits will benefit the Hispanic Federation's Proyecto Somos Orlando, which addresses the long-term needs for mental health services for Orlando victims and their families. The services are culturally sensitive, bilingual and available in the victims' own communities.
The song's teaser goes:
"What we got is love even when the sinners hate us, We cannot let them diminish or intimidate us We sing out, we got the rhythm and the true on our side We cut through the divide and we do it with pride,"
On June 12, 2016, Omar Mateen, a 29-year-old security guard, killed 49 people and wounded 53 others inside Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando. Over 95 percent of the victims were Latino.
Reports suggested the attacker used several gay dating apps and communicated with several users, with his former wife claiming he was gay. However, the FBI said it has yet to find any evidence on the matter.
