Video footage shows the 15-year-old Palestinian, who was fatally shot by Israeli forces, did not pose an immediate threat.

Israeli occupation forces killed 15-year-old Othman Rami Halas, and 18-year-old Muhammad Nasser Sharab Friday, during the 16th Great March of Return in the besieged Gaza Strip. The two teens were demonstrating in support of the Bedouin residents of Khan al Ahmar, in the occupied West Bank, who are facing demolition.

The Great March of Return was launched on March 30, Palestinian Land Day,

to demand Palestinian refugees’ right to return to the ancestral lands from which their families were expelled after the creation of the state of Israel in 1948.

The demonstrations in the framework of the Great March of Return remembrance was scheduled to end on May 15, when Palestinians commemorate the Nakba or catastrophe, but protesters have continued to demonstrate along the fence Israel unilaterally built to surround the Gaza Strip.

The targeting of civilians who pose no imminent threat to soldiers or Israeli civilians has also continued. The murders of Othman and Muhammad Friday are the latest cases of Israel’s unjustified use of lethal force.

Since the United States moved its embassy from Tel Aviv to the occupied city of East Jerusalem in May 14, when over 60 Palestinians were killed in Gaza, media coverage of the Strip has diminished, but violence has not subsided.

The Israeli military has launched several airstrikes against alleged Hamas targets in response to incendiary kites flown by Gaza protesters that have caused several fires in southern Israel, and rockets launched from the Strip.

There have been no reports of Israeli casualties.
