French Communists Label Macron as a ‘Reactionary Bourgeois’

France's new president-elect, Emmanuel Macron, a former investment banker cut from the neo-liberal thread, is facing harsh criticism from the Communist Party of France.

Having won the elections in a landslide victory, Macron defeated far-right candidate, Marine Le Pen, by a margin of over 30 percentage points.

However, according to the Communist Party of France, Macron and Le Pen, far from being opposites in their political agenda, represent two sides of the same coin.

The Marxist-Leninist group stated on its website Wednesday that Macron and Le Pen are both part of the capitalist system, expressing the aspirations and goals of different sections of French capital.

In a statement lambasting the French presidential election, the Revolutionary Communist Party of France, PCRF, characterized Macron as being a politician who “embodies the reactionary values of the bourgeoisie.” They added that he “is part of the warlike continuity of French imperialism, made up of interference and military aggression, hidden behind a so-called defense of freedom.”

Their analysis of Macron's rise to the French presidency was “the result of a formidable mobilization of the propaganda and communication apparatus of monopoly capital.”

Olivier Tonneau, lecturer in modern languages at Homerton College, noted that while the mainstream media propped up Macron's electability, they'd taken leaps and bounds in railroading left-wing Jean-Luc Melenchon's presidential bid.

When Melenchon proposed to solve Guiana's (an ex-French colony in South America) economic difficulties with economic cooperation and solidarity with the members of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples, ALBA, his statements were translated and summed up in the French media as, “If Melenchon is elected, France will join a military alliance, ALBA, including Iran and Syria.”

Also, France's National Elections Commission imposed restrictions on the media from reporting WikiLeaks information about emails from Macron's campaign team. It was reported that Rothschild, Soros, and Goldman Sachs had contributed up to 5.5 million euros to his campaign.

Faced with a robust, neo-liberal platform in the horizon, PCRF's concluded its analysis with only one viable option, “the construction of a large Communist Party,” one capable of fending off capitalism, absence of democracy, and war threats.
