With elections slated for March 4, FMLN Secretary General Medardo Gonzalez announced Wednesday that the party's campaign will aim to reach all 262 municipalities and inform them of the government's proposals and initiatives.

"We are going to (send) FMLN brigades from house to house, asking people for their vote and support," said mayoral candidate Jose Luis Merino.

"In each area, we will explain the need for our organization to have more mayors to support the transformations promoted by the government of President Salvador Sanchez Ceren."

The FMLN hopes to win 40 seats. It currently holds 21 in the legislature.

More than 5 million citizens are expected to vote on March 4, according to the official register of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE).
