The police report has said that nobody was injured in the attack.

"There was no damage to embassy property. No personnel were injured. All embassy operations are continuing as normal. At this time, we do not consider this incident a terrorist act," the U.S. Embassy said on its Facebook page several hours after the attack.

According to the embassy, an investigation is ongoing into the origins of the attack.

Kiev is at the center of a conflict between the Ukrainian military, which receives support from the U.S. against Russian backed separatists.
