The Bolivian president said countries use more military spending for interventions and building military bases instead of promoting world peace and prosperity and fighting inequality.

Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly, Bolivian President Evo Morales said the world should focus more on world peace, ending climate change, and poverty instead of building military bases adding that the inhumane blockade by the U.S. on Cuba needs to end, sanctions on Venezuela need to be withdrawn, while also slamming Israel's occupation of Palestine and calling for the founding of a Palestinian state.

"Global efforts such as the Paris Agreement are important but until we tackle the structural causes of this crisis, we will not be able to put a stop to it. ClimateChange is an inevitable consequence of capitalism," he said addressing the heads of states at the U.N. General Assembly.

"The Bolivian Republic of Venezuela is suffering from economic aggression imposed by the United States and its allies. Venezuelan problems need to be resolved by the Venezuelan people themselves."

He also highlighted how Bolivia has moved away from Washington's influence and focused on national improvements and sovereignty. "In Bolivia, we have gotten rid of U.S. military bases and aid, and we have gotten rid of impositions from the IMF. Now, Bolivia is an example for the region and for the world, we have one of the fastest growing economies in the region."
