El Chapo Underwent Erectile Dysfunction Surgery in Tijuana

The world’s most powerful drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman underwent surgery in Tijuana, Mexico while on the run after his second spectacular prison break to correct his erectile dysfunction, Mexican newspaper Reforma reported Thursday.

“El Chapo Guzman had surgery performed on him to have an implant placed in his testicles due to the erectile disfunction the Sinaloa Cartel suffers,” Reforma said, quoting sources close to the investigation of his recapture.

The sources told the influential newspaper that El Chapo underwent surgery some time between September and October of last year while he was on the run. Reforma adds that the operation took place after he met with Mexican actress Kate del Castillo and U.S. two-time Oscar winning actor Sean Penn.

The high-level sources told Reforma that the drug trafficker also underwent “aesthetic treatment.”

​Mexican journalist Carlos Loret said that authorities found about US$300 worth of medicines to enhance his sexual performance at the house he had reportedly been hiding in Los Mochis, Sinaloa.

“During his six months as a fugitive (for a second time) Joaquín 'El Chapo' Guzman left his comfort zone on only one occasion and that was to go to Tijuana to fix his erectile dysfunction problem,” the sources added.

​When he was entered at the very same maximum security jail from which he escaped July 11, El Chapo underwent a complete medical check up that revealed medical scars on his back, penis and testicles, in which doctors placed a special implant that improves the circulation of blood,” Reforma said.

In the meantime, this Thursday, Mexican Minister of the Interior Miguel Angel Osorio admitted that the one-mile tunnel through which El Chapo escaped is still there and in fact it has been reinforced.

He claimed that the reason for this is because the tunnel continues to be part of an “important” investigation into his escape. He added that the tunnel is being well guarded by security forces.

“A judge will be responsible for notifying when the tunnel can be eliminated,” Osorio said.
