Lorenzo Perez secured the only gold left in his career, in the category of the men’s S6 100 meters freestyle swim. The athlete, who suffers from a lower-body impairment, also holds the world (Toronto Parapan Am 2015) and Paralympic records (Rio de Janeiro 2016).
In the weightlifting events, Leidy Rodriguez won silver in the 41kg division. The powerlifter bench pressed 85kg, surpassing her 80kg lift in the 2016 Río de Janeiro Games, in which she placed seventh.

This year, the events were originally scheduled to begin September 30, but a succession of earthquakes prompted a postponement to December 2.
