A creationist may head the U.S. Department of Education.

With U.S. President-elect’s Donald Trump’s cabinet teeming with white supremacists, anti-choice misogynists and hard-line homophobes, the latest to potentially become a part of the roster is a creationist — who may work under the Department of Education.

Jerry Falwell, the President of Liberty University, the largest Christian school in the country, is who Trump is reportedly considering to appoint as head of that department.  

The Washington Post reported that Liberty’s science hall, which is well-stocked with the latest laboratory equipment, including a gene sequencer and a nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer, and that faculty members teach biblical creationism alongside evolution.

Falwell, an early supporter of Trump, met with him and Vice President-elect Mike Pence last week at the Trump Tower in New York.

“I let them know one of my passions is reforming higher education and education in general,” Mr Falwell told the Richmond Times-Dispatch. “I told them I’d be willing - I have a lot of responsibilities here - but I’d be willing to serve in some capacity that sort of brings education back to some form of sanity.”
