The agreement will comprehensively transform the Venezuelan judicial system.

The President of Venezuelan Supreme Court, TSJ, Maikel Moreno and his counterpart from the People's Supreme Court of China, Zhou Qiang, have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop a plan for systematizing the South American country's judiciary.

"Our goal is to systematize the judicial service in Venezuela," said Moreno.

During a meeting held at the headquarters of China's highest court, Moreno presented the plan to comprehensively transform the Venezuelan judiciary to Zhou.

"Our objective is to systematize the judicial service in Venezuela, to contribute to the efficiency of the processes, to increase procedural speed and to eliminate congestion, to offer the people an increasingly efficient, modern, advanced justice," Moreno said.

Zhou said he would designate a committee of experts to start implementing the plan.

"I look forward to working with you to strengthen the Judicial Powers of both countries," he said.

Zhou emphasized that the memorandum will promote academic exchanges between both nations' Judicial Branches, while also accepting Moreno's invitation to visit Venezuela.

The agreement also seeks to strengthen cooperation between the two courts in the criminal justice sector and the joint fight against transnational crimes.

Moreno was a speaker at the International Judicial Cooperation Forum of the Silk Road in Dunhuang, in the northwestern Chinese province of Gansu.

The event was attended by top judicial representatives from other nations including Argentina, Azerbaijan, Belarus, China, Egypt, Kazakhstan, Greece, Kazakhstan, Portugal, Romania, Russian Federation, Sudan, Turkey and Ukraine.
