“After that beautiful phrase I ask you, Alexis, are you going to vote?” wrote one Twitter user.

From the comfort of his London apartment, international soccer star Arsenal Alexis Sanchez weighs in on his native Chilean elections which have brought the countries 14.3 million to voting booths across the country in a steady stream Sunday.

The photos show the Christmas lights twinkle on the Christmas tree in the finely furnished home as the athlete relaxes with his two dogs on the couch, an easy smile on his face.

Below he wrote, “In my journey through the world I found a wise man. I asked him: What is more important to love or be loved? He looked at me and smiled. What wing do you need to fly? The right or the left?”

The post spiraled across social media as fans and supporters instantly took the message to be in reference of Chile’s current presidential elections featuring left-wing candidate and former television host, Alejandro Guillier and right-wing businessman and former president Sebastian Pinera.

The soccer play received mixed responses with the majority calling for him to get up and vote for his country.

Another contradicted the post, saying, “And (the wise man) told you ... go vote because your life is resolved but that of your people is not.”
