Bolivia's Morales Slams Trump for Rejecting Paris Agreement, Building Walls

Bolivian President Evo Morales has called out U.S.President Donald Trump Tuesday for his failure to respect the Paris Agreement at the G20 summit, describing the leader as "isolated and trapped."

"G20 became 20-1. Trump, isolated and trapped by rejecting the #ParisAgreement. The world calls for more integration and less pollution," Morales wrote on Twitter.

G20 summit's member countries, who have been in Hamburg, Germany, starting Friday to hold talks on largely capital-driven policies in the economic, financial and commercial spheres, unanimously agreed to uphold the Paris Agreement of 2015 — except the United States.

Morales called Trump's decision to withdraw a high treason to Mother Earth.

Earlier in June, Trump withdrew U.S. from the Paris Agreement, that was adopted in 2015 and was in effect since November 2016. The agreement sets standard measures to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions to help reduce global warming.

Governments, organizations and public figures across the world also expressed their disappointment at the announcement of the head of the White House to abandon the pact that aims to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases.

Morales said the fact that a bloc of the most industrialized countries was able to recognize the role of war in global problems is a positive step forward.

'We welcome the fact that the G20 recognizes that the main cause of forced migration is wars, natural disasters and human rights violations,' Morales said in a tweet.

The Bolivian president on Friday also urged all member countries to vote against walls that hurt workers and migrants. The Indigenous president also sought to define policies that would help eradicate world poverty and improve the welfare of humankind.

"To the G20: No walls against migrants, no nuclear weapons against life and humanity," Evo Morales tweeted.

Morales called on the participating countries to pay heed to Pope Francis' message and take steps to end global poverty. "My great wish is that I hope these countries can define policies to end poverty in the world, especially listening to the message of Pope Francis for the G20 to think of the poorest," Morales said.

The anti-capitalist campaigners in Hamburg also showed up in large numbers to protest the summit, the protesters used #smashG20 and #BlockG20 to show their disapproval of the policies promoted at the summit.

One Twitter user, Kolya Chernyi, said, "G20 stands for global capitalism, exploitation in favor of the super-rich, militarization, and war. WE SAY: #SMASHG20 #G20TOHELL #NOPASARAN."

The G20 Summit that saw the leaders from countries of Germany, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, South Korea, United States, France, United Kingdom, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Turkey and the European Union, is an international coordination between the member countries to work on global economic policies.
