The Network of Intellectuals and Artists in Defense of Humanity, Cuba chapter, strongly condemned on Monday actions taken by countries and international organizations against the Venezuelan government of Nicolás Maduro and Latin America.
"We strongly condemn the actions of the Organization of American States (OAS), the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) and the Lima Group, which ominously serve imperialism in their interventionist efforts in the region," they said in a statement.

According to the group, it is necessary to develop a movement of solidarity with Venezuela before the "danger of an armed intervention by the United States and/or its allies" could represent for that nation and Latin America.
In addition, they state that there are very few strategies that have not been applied against the Venezuelan Government. "The current events in relation to Venezuela and the region seem completely copied from the manuals of American intelligence," they said.
The organization made reference to the statements by US Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, at the University of Texas, where he "vindicated the validity of the Monroe Doctrine, and threatened Cuba and Venezuela."
