Six other officers were also injured in the attack, which took place in Minas Gerais Park, Fazenda da Barra 3, a rural neighborhood in Resende.

The agents "were carrying out a crackdown on criminals in the area when they found a box, and when they opened it they came across a swarm of bees and were attacked," the police communications department said in a statement.

The agents, who suffered an allergic reaction, were rushed to the emergency wing of a nearby hospital.
