Governor Miguel Ángel Yunes confirmed that severed heads belonging to five people were discovered on the hood of a taxi. Meanwhile, black plastic bags containing their torsos were located inside of the vehicle, according to Mexican magazine Proceso.

"We regret with deep sorrow the events that took place in our municipality last night," read a post on the official Twitter account of the town.

Local media also reported that a message from an organized crime group was found among the bags as well as Graffiti on the bonnet of the taxi accompanied by the initials of a drug cartel.

According to the president, the Attorney General's Office is in charge of investigating the crime because "it is a matter of organized crime."
