The PA 34 Piper Seneca airplane had four passengers in addition to the pilot onboard.

Argentina's Civil Aviation Accident Investigation Board (JIAAC) is reporting that five people have lost their lives in a an aircraft crash.

The JIAAC posted to social media about the accident. “Plane crash PA 34 Piper Seneca Matr LV-GZK at approximately 15:00 UTC in rural area between Quemú-Quemú and Pellegrini (La Pampa), 5 deceased occupants.”

Ministry of Transport agency EANA (Argentine Air Navigation Company) detected the activation of the aircraft's ELT beacon shortly after midnight and launched a search.

The civil aviation authority has reportedly dispatched investigators to the site of the accident.

The PA 34 Piper Seneca airplane, which had four passengers in addition to the pilot onboard, was flying from San Rafael, Mendoza to Tandil, Buenos Aires. The accident took place in the rural area between the towns of Miguel Cane and Relmo.

The wreckage was found 15 kilometers east of Quemu Quemu.

Seneca aircraft are used for personal, business and instructional air purposes.
