Commerce, energy and tourism were some of the key topics discussed at the meeting.

"If we have good relations with any country, it is precisely with Trinidad and Tobago," Arreaza said in a statement. To which the Moses responded saying, "there is always a flow between the two countries (...) and there is always the possibility of reinforcing that and doing it on a more structured basis."

The meeting that was attended by the Venezuelan state governors, Edwin Rojas and Lizeta Hernandez, from the states of Sucre and Delta Amacuro, who belong to the opposition said they are looking forward to improving relations with Trinidad and Tobago.

"It was an extraordinary meeting; the governors have the instruction of President Nicolas Maduro to come and spell out all those aspects, of course, with the support of the Venezuelan central government," Arreaza said.

Arreaza also invited the Caribbean nation to attend a regional trade fair in Venezuela, the Fair Expo Sucre Potencia that is expected to take place soon in the eastern Venezuelan state. The fair is part of the larger "Venezuela Exporta" program which offers a wider platform for the national exporters to meet with the foreign buyers.
