Once again, the U.S. reveals its true identity as a champion of global terrorism, the Union of Democratic Socialists stated.

On Saturday, the Socialists of the Democratic Republic of Congo responded to new U.S. actions they called harassment against Venezuela, issuing a message of support for Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and the Bolivarian Revolution. Below is their statement.

“The Union of Democratic Socialists (UDS), a member of the Antifascist International, learned — without surprise — of the latest U.S. diplomatic blunder against Venezuela’s constitutional president, comrade Nicolas Maduro. Washington has offered a reward for Maduro’s capture, citing fantastical reasons and throwing tons of senseless garbage at one of the brave and revered leaders of the global antifascist struggle.

With this abominable act, which once again violates the U.N. Charter and international law, the United States publicly reveals its true identity as a champion of global terrorism.

By persisting in this ignoble and sordid attack against Maduro, the United States seeks to decapitate the Bolivarian Revolution, just as it tried to do through the poisoning of the immortal Commander Hugo Chavez, the Bolivarian Revolution’s historic leader.

In this grave moment, when the future of the global antifascist struggle is at stake, the Union of Democratic Socialists joins all the world’s revolutionaries in offering unconditional support to President Nicolas Maduro, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the brave Venezuelan people.

The Union of Democratic Socialists expresses its full solidarity with comrade Maduro, renews its confidence in him and encourages him to continue the fight against fascism, imperialism and neocolonialism.

The United States’ hegemonic ambitions toward Venezuela are nothing new. They will always be doomed to failure thanks to the Venezuelan people, who are ideologically prepared for any eventuality and to block the path to reaction and fascism.”
