Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Rodríguez led a crucial videoconference this Friday with governors from across the nation to evaluate the operabilit and maintenance progress of the national electrical system.

The virtual assembly meticulously reviewed various preventive measures being implemented at generating plants and assessed the extensive deployment of the National Electricity Corporation (Corpoelec) crews.

These efforts are guided by three fundamental pillars: integral maintenance of the electrical infrastructure, robust system protection to prevent outages and proactive citizen attention to address concerns and ensure service quality.

This intensive work session follows the activation of the “Conscious Electricity Saving National Plan” in March. This strategic initiative, implemented for 45 days, sought to mitigate risks associated with the seasonal increase in temperatures across the Venezuelan territory.

This overarching goal is crucial not only for stabilizing the electricity service but also for significantly improving the quality of life for the population, enabling sustained progress.

Looking ahead, the National Executive is poised to formally present the “Electrical System Recovery Plan” to the various business chambers that constitute the National Economic Council. This strategic move aims to foster collaboration with the private sector, inviting them to provide valuable technical contributions and innovative proposals.

The ultimate objective is to consolidate a truly robust energy infrastructure capable of supporting the growth of key economic engines, particularly the agri-food and export sectors, which are vital for Venezuela’s long-term prosperity and self-sufficiency.

The Acting President further clarified that Venezuela is currently experiencing record temperatures, contributing to the intensified electrical demand, marking the highest peak (15,457 megawatts) observed in the last 9 years.

This unprecedented surge is attributed to a combination of factors: the ongoing recovery and expansion of national industry, indicating positive economic trends, and the pressing effects of the global climate emergency, which has imposed additional strains on energy grids worldwide.

In light of this escalating pressure on the electrical system, a direct consequence of both the regional climate crisis and the sustained surge in demand, the National Government has strongly urged both the population and businesses to maintain a rational and efficient use of energy. This call for conscious consumption is framed as an indispensable part of a co-responsibility model, essential for ensuring the long-term viability of the country’s economic growth.

The Bolivarian Government emphasizes that collective effort in energy conservation is paramount for building a sustainable and resilient energy future for Venezuela.
